MCS Parent Learning Management System Orientations

Parent Orientation LMS

MCS Parents and Families,

As the beginning of the new school year approaches, we will be offering several virtual parent orientation opportunities to assist you with navigating your child’s Learning Management System. These systems will be used by MCS to provide students access to learning materials, assignments, and methods of submitting work. For grades K-5, students will be using Google Classroom. For grades 6-12, students will be using Canvas. This orientation will be streamed live. If you are unable to access WiFi or a device to view this orientation, please contact your child’s school to reserve a seat to watch the virtual orientation at a school location. Due to State restrictions, space is limited and will be reserved for those who have no means of accessing the virtual orientation independently.

For Parents/Guardians of Elementary Students, choose to watch on either August 13 or August 18 beginning at 6PM:

Learn how to navigate Google Classroom as an Elementary School Parent, find out about the Parent Weekly Guardian Summary, student view, and other features. Google Classroom is the Learning Management System for McDowell County Schools Grades K-5.

For Parents/Guardians of Middle School and High School Students, choose to watch on either August 11 or August 20 beginning at 6PM:
