Family Support Coordinator

Bachelor of Social Work, Appalachian State University

Ms. Tera Willis received her Bachelor of Social Work from Appalachian State University.

Tera began working with McDowell County Schools in 2013. She chose to further her education in the field of social work in an effort to better understand the social, cultural, and emotional factors that affect learning.

Ms. Willis strives to enhance the school's mission and vision by providing services which strengthen home, school, and community partnerships. She actively addresses barriers that interfere with student achievement by bringing people and resources together while creating an environment that is conducive to effective problem solving and learning. Her goal is to provide every student with the opportunity to develop to his or her maximum potential.

My mission:

I will encourage an understanding of, and sensitivity to, multicultural values and traditions. I will lead from a social justice and multicultural perspective. By building on the natural empathy of children, I will encourage children to care about unfair conditions that affect others.
