Hello MHS families!

My name is Cheyenne Rivas and I am excited and honored to be one of your new school counselors at Mcdowell High. As a proud graduate of this school, I know first-hand the strength of this community and the lasting impact that dedicated educators and mentors can have. It's truly a full-circle moment to be back in the place that helped shape me, now with the opportunity to support and guide our students on their own journeys. 

After graduating from Erskine College, I went on to earn my Master's degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University. My heart has always been in helping students grow, feel seen, and reach their full potential- both in and out of the classroom.

When I'm not in the counseling office, you can probably find me in the gym with our Lady Titan basketball teams or soaking up sweet moments with my baby boy. I am so excited for this new chapter and grateful to be part of a community that means so much to me!
