EMILY LATIMORE
Fine Arts - Chorus Director
Mrs. Emily Latimore is beginning her 5th year as the chorus director at McDowell High School. Passionate about music education and student growth, she strives to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where every student feels valued and challenged. Under her leadership, the Titan Chorus has explored a wide range of repertoire, from classical and contemporary works to multicultural pieces that celebrate diversity in music.
Mrs. Latimore has studied under renowned conductor and educator Dr. Carol Krueger, deepening her expertise in musical literacy and developing innovative approaches to teaching sight-reading and musicianship in the choral classroom. She is also pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching at Campbell University, where she continues to expand her knowledge of best practices in education, including differentiation, culturally responsive teaching, and student-centered instruction.
Beyond the classroom, she is deeply involved in her community through church music ministry and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Mrs. Latimore is excited to continue inspiring McDowell High School students through music and looks forward to another rewarding year of learning and performing together.
