How to Apply for a Certified (Licensed) Position
A cover letter and resume are required. You will now upload these items to your online portfolio. If you do not see a posting for the job(s) that you are interested in, please consider applying to the Generic Posting in the category for which you are interested "Generic – Licensed" (positions that require a Professional Educator’s License). By doing this you make your application visible to our district. Please continue to check the McDowell County Schools Job Board for future employment opportunities.
When vacancies occur, interviews are arranged with selected applicants holding proper qualifications. The principal/hiring administrator screens applications and selects eligible candidates for interview. After interviewing these candidates, the principal/hiring administrator and his/her interview team make a recommendation to the Executive Director of Administration and Human Resource Services. The applicant, upon accepting the offer, then will be contacted to schedule an Employee Sign up Session. (This activity involves completing appropriate local, state and federal forms, and submitting to a criminal history record check.)
All certified employees must hold or be qualified to hold a license from the State of North Carolina. To find out more information regarding certified teachers, visit our Human Resource page by clicking this link: MCS Human Resource Page
Certified positions will not be recommended to the Board of Education until a background check is completed and approved.
