A/B Schedule for 2020-2021

A/B Schedule for 2020-2021

Last week, the Board of Education approved a hybrid plan that allows families the choice of face to face instruction or a 100% remote option. Students in PreK, K, and 1st grade have the option to attend every day. Students with identified special needs also have the option to attend every day. Students from 2nd grade through seniors in high school are being divided into two groups and will attend school on a rotating basis with one week at school then followed by a week of remote learning. If you are choosing the remote learning option, please make sure you have communicated this directly with the school and are placed in their virtual academy.

In order for all students in a household to be on the same weekly schedule and to help manage our busloads under the state limitation of one student per seat, we selected the following criteria for the A/B groups:

-If you have a 911 home address where the last number ends in a 1,3,5,7 or 9, your household is in Group A.
-If you have a 911 home address where the last number ends in a 0,2,4,6 or 8, your household is in Group B.
-For example, if you live at 11 Wall Street, then you are assigned to Group A. If your address is 4 Privet Drive, Apt. 10, then you are assigned to Group B.

Please remember to use the very last number of the address that is on file with MCS. Each school has the names of the students in Group A and Group B, as well, so please contact them directly if you have any questions.

Your school will be in touch to confirm the day your student is scheduled to attend. We are taking the first few days to bring in smaller groups so that students can learn their new schedules and routines. Please look for a follow up communication explaining what that looks like for your family. Beginning August 24, MCS will begin with Group A live and Group B remote learning. The following week will have Group B live and Group A remote learning. We will continue with this rotating schedule until the state changes the guidelines.

While we know our reopening plan is not perfect and COVID-19 continues to disrupt everyday life, we want to share that lots of thought and deliberation went into process and student needs outweighed all else in the final decision.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work toward a great school year. May we all be flexible and show grace as we navigate the coming days together.
